0xFFFC1 has posted the first progress report (February 2024)2 for their part-time Monero dev work CCS proposal3:

I did spend a substantial portion of my time on 91814. The explanation can be found on the PR page, once approved and released, this will provide a better foundation for our locking mechanism and eventually more throughput.
